Staff Sergeant Chen enlisted in the Marine Corps in 2015 and completed recruit training at Marine Corps Recruit Depot Parris Island, South Carolina.
His first assignment was with the 3rd Maintenance Battalion, Armory Ordnance Section, in Camp Hansen, Okinawa, Japan, serving as a Small Arms Repairer. In 2017, he deployed with the 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit as the Unit Armorer in support of Exercise Talisman Saber in Australia.
In 2018, he reported to Weapons Field Training Battalion, Camp Pendleton, as the Armory Non-Commissioned Officer, supporting recruit training. In 2019, he joined 3rd Battalion, 1st Marines, serving as the Battalion Armory Non-Commissioned Officer in Charge and deployed to Kuwait and Saudi Arabia with the Special Purpose Marine Air-Ground Task Forces.
He now reports to Pasadena, California, where he currently serves as the Battalion Armory Chief for 2nd Battalion, 23rd Marines.
Some of his awards include the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal and the Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal.
