LOS ANGELES (September 21, 2026) – MLS announced today that LA Galaxy midfielder Marco Reus has been named to the Team of the Matchday for Matchday 27 following his performance in the club’s 3-2 come-from-behind victory over Western Conference side Minnesota United FC at Allianz Field in St. Paul. Reus earns his third-consecutive MLS Team of the Matchday honor, and fourth of the season overall.
Reus stepped onto the pitch at the hour mark with the Galaxy down by a goal and completely flipped the script of the evening. In the 76th minute, the German international delivered the equalizing assist, a free kick into the box that found the head of João Klauss to level the match at 2-2. Four minutes later, a well-positioned Reus received a cross into the box from Lucas Calegari and on his first touch neatly redirected the ball with his left foot into the bottom-left corner to complete the comeback and secure three crucial points for LA on the night.
The performance was Reus’ fourth multi-contribution match of the season in all competitions, and he has now recorded five goal contributions over the last four matches (three goals, two assists). Reus has now tallied a team-leading seven goals and nine assists in league play and has been directly involved in 47% of the Galaxy’s 34 regular season goals. He has now firmly surpassed his 2025 regular season output (five goals, nine assists) with seven matches still to play in the campaign. Overall, Reus has contributed to a club-leading 17 goals across all competitions so far in 2026 (seven goals, 10 assists).
