LA Galaxy to Open 2027 MLS Sprint Season at Home Against St. Louis CITY SC, Saturday, Feb. 20 at 7 p.m. PT; Tickets on Sale Tomorrow, October 30
LOS ANGELES (October 29, 2026) – The six-time MLS Cup champion LA Galaxy today announced the club’s 2027 MLS Sprint Season schedule, a 14-game campaign that will launch the league’s transition to its new summer-to-spring competition calendar. The 2027 MLS Sprint Season carries all the significance of a normal regular season, with an MLS Cup Champion to be crowned and both Concacaf Champions Cup and Leagues Cup qualification up for grabs.

The upcoming 14-game schedule will see the Galaxy play each of their Western Conference opponents one time, split evenly between seven home and seven away matches. The 2027 MLS Sprint Season will conclude with eight teams from each conference qualifying for the 2027 Audi MLS Cup Playoffs in a single-elimination bracket format beginning in May. Each match will be hosted by the team with the higher position in the final 2027 Supporters’ Shield standings, a recipe for both high-level excitement and overall urgency for results from game one to game 14.
The LA Galaxy are set to open the never-before-seen Sprint Season at home against St. Louis CITY SC on February 20, 2027. The following month, Dignity Health Sports Park will open its doors for the 107th edition of the California Clásico between the Galaxy and the San Jose Earthquakes on March 6. On April 10, the LA Galaxy will host the only El Tráfico of the shortened season before welcoming Seattle to Los Angeles on April 21. The G's will then travel to Snapdragon Stadium to face San Diego FC on May 1 before closing out the Sprint Season at home against Austin FC on May 8.
2027 El Tráfico, Only at Dignity Health Sports Park on Saturday, April 10
The 29th edition of El Tráfico, and the only LA derby of the Sprint Season, will be played at Dignity Health Sports Park, with the Galaxy hoping to earn three points after one loss and one draw against the crosstown rivals in 2026. The match, on Saturday, April 10 (7 p.m. PT, Apple TV) will remain one of the League’s most intense rivalries.

Riqui Puig’s Highly Anticipated Return
One of the most anticipated storylines of the LA Galaxy’s 2027 Sprint Season is the return of Riqui Puig, who has not appeared in a match for the club in two full seasons. A two-time MLS All-Star and 2024 MLS Best XI selection, Puig established himself as one of the league’s premier playmakers following his arrival in 2022, recording 62 goal contributions across all competitions. His remarkable 2024 campaign featured 37 goal contributions, including four goals and four assists during the postseason, before he suffered a torn ACL in the Western Conference Final. After a lengthy road back and a setback in 2026 that further delayed his return to competition, Puig has rejoined the team in training as he works toward his highly anticipated return to the field in 2027.
